Built in 1898, as a lavish winter resort for those seeking respite from the cold winters of the Midwest and the East Coast. The resort attracted wealthy vacationers who would stay the entire winter season.

The CG is a 7-story building inspired by Moorish, Spanish and Victorian styles. It is considered one of Pasadena’s most stunning and distinctive historical structures. It was the 2nd of 3 buildings that made up the original Hotel Green complex.

It quickly became a social and cultural center for Pasadena hosting significant events and famous visitors.  The pedestrian bridge to the main hotel became a popular viewing site for thru Rose Parade which, at the time, ran along Raymond Ave.

The CG remains one of the oldest and best preserved historic landmarks in LA County. Has original finishes, ornamental features and a 24-hour manned elevator. The hotel is a nationally registered historic monument.

Today the building is divided into 52 individually owned private units.

Numerous movies have been filmed at the Castle Green like the Sting, Bugsy, the Little Rascals, Live By Night and the Last Samurai.
