CAStle green

Built in 1898 as a lavish winter resort for those seeking respite from the cold winters of the Midwest and the East Coast. The resort attracted wealthy vacationers who would stay the entire winter season.

The Castle Green is a 7-story building inspired by Moorish, Spanish, and Victorian styles. It is considered one of Pasadena’s most stunning and distinctive historical structures. It was the 2nd of 3 buildings that made up the original Hotel Green complex.

It quickly became a social and cultural center for Pasadena, hosting significant events and famous visitors. The pedestrian bridge to the main hotel became a popular viewing site for the Rose Parade, which at the time ran along Raymond Ave.

The Castle Green remains one of the oldest and best-preserved historic landmarks in LA County. It has original finishes, ornamental features, and a 24-hour manned elevator. The hotel is a nationally registered historic monument.

Today the building is divided into 52 individually owned private units.

Numerous movies have been filmed at the Castle Green, including The Sting, Bugsy, The Little Rascals, Live by Night, and The Last Samurai.
